The players of top rugby league club Warrington Wolves froze with horror when they saw what they had to do at a special training and assessment day at The Univesity of Bolton this week. They were ordered to strip too the waist and enter a chamber where the temperature was minus 130 degrees C. Brrrrr! The University’s research team is scientifically testing whether cryotherapy, which is one step beyond the dreaded ice bath, can improve a player’s recovery time from injury and help his performance. The results will be released later in the year. The GBP organised press and media interest including a special report on the BBC’s evening news programme. North West Tonight. We are currently in the process of highlighting more of the amazing pioneering work being done at the University.
